Confirming The Covenant:
Daniel 9:26, “And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.”
Now, I’m going to fill in the gaps as best as I understand the above.
Daniel 9:26, “And after threescore and two weeks (434 years) shall Messiah (Jesus the Prince) be cut off, but not for himself (but to atone for the sins of the world, and to cause the animal sacrifices in the temple to cease completely, not temporarily, but utterly): and (because of his being cut off) the people (Roman legions) of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city (Jerusalem) and the sanctuary (the Holy of Holies); and the end (the destruction) thereof shall be with a flood , and unto (until) the end of the war (unto the end, when Jesus returns, there is war) desolations (the Temple and Holy of Holies are to lay wasted) are (have been decreed) determined (by God).”
In 598 B.C., King Nebuchadnezzar took from the temple ALL the vessels and treasures of gold, silver and bronze, leaving The Holy Place an empty, cold, stone room. Also, the Ark of the Covenant, and Mercy Seat were never seen again. Then in 587 B.C., King Nebuchadnezzar returned with his armies and destroyed the Temple completely. But years later, The Temple and Holy Place would be rebuilt, but without the Ark of the Covenant or Mercy Seat.
And after Jesus death and resurrection, many of the Christian Jews were still going to the Temple and were keeping parts of the law such as circumcision, Jewish holy days etc. Because of this, in 70 A.D., the Lord sent the Romans to destroy the Temple and the city of Jerusalem.
Daniel 9:27, “And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.”
“He shall confirm the covenant,” question, who’s the “he?” and what covenant is Daniel speaking of? We need to examine verse 26 in order to determine what covenant Daniel is speaking of, and who the “he” is. It’s the Messiah!
The covenant Daniel is referring to is the one prophesied in Jeremiah:
Jeremiah 31:31, “Behold the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah.”
Hebrews 10:9, “He (God) takes away the first (covenant), that he may establish the second.”
Who’s the “He” Daniel is speaking of? It’s Jesus, Messiah the Prince. The following verses verify who the “He” is.
Isaiah 42:6, “I the LORD (the Father) have called thee (His Son Jesus) in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles.”
Malachi 3:1, “—and the Lord whom ye (Israel) seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant,”
Luke 22:20, “This cup is the new testament (covenant) in my blood, which is shed for you.”
When Jesus spoke these words, it was for the Jews, but after the cross, the Gentiles would be grafted into the blessing of this new covenant of grace.
He was “Cut off” so both Jews and Gentiles could participate in this new covenant.
The new covenant was first presented to the Jews for their restoration. Both the “house of Israel (10 Northern tribes) and Judah (2 Southern tribes) had to be reunited as one people in order to fulfill this part of the prophesy, see Ezekiel 37:16-17.
This restoration began on May 14th 1948, and continues to this day, 2020. The Jews would have been in the land a full 70 on May 13th 2019.
Don’t be misled by any false teaching concerning this matter! This has to be a literal gathering together of the 12 tribes, in a real land, Israel. The realization of fulfilment is happening before our eyes!
Concerning the (supposed) ten lost tribes:
The Assyrian captivity of the 10 Northern tribes of Israel began between 734-732 B.C. Sargon II and his son and successor Sennacherib went to Israel and took no less than 30,000 captives from the Northern kingdom. Israel’s Northern population had to be somewhere between 3-5 million, maybe more. During the Assyrian sieges, many people from the 10 Northern tribes migrated down to the Southern two tribes, keeping in tack all 12 tribes. Even if every Jew taken into captivity died, millions remained in the land from the 10 tribes.
And during the Babylonian sieges of Jerusalem, no more than 50,000 people out of millions were taken into captivity from the Southern tribes, leaving millions of Jews from all 12 tribes in the land.
So, are there 12 tribes of Israel today? Yes! Who and where are they? The last census, I read, concerning the Jewish population of the world, there are said to be some 14 ½ million Jews worldwide, some 8 million of them in Israel and the rest still scattered among the Gentile nations.
And be assured of this, when God calls them together in order to mark the 144,000 of Revelation 7, He will know exactly who they are, and where to find them.
Concerning Israel’s dispersion and regathering of them in the end days.
Ezekiel 37:21-28, “Thus saith the LORD God; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen (Gentiles) whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land: I will make them (the Jews) one nation they all shall have one shepherd (Jesus Christ) they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes … I (God) will make a covenant of peace with them (Jeremiah 31:31); it shall be an everlasting covenant … And the nations shall know that I the LORD do sanctify (pure and set apart) Israel, when my sanctuary (Holy of holies) shall be in the midst of them for evermore.”
Jesus curses the Temple and the people.
Matthew 23:38, Jesus said concerning the Temple, “Behold, your house is left unto you (the Jews) desolate (deserted).”
Matthew 24:2, Jesus said to his disciples at the top of the Mt. of Olives, “Verily I say unto you (his disciples), there shall not be left here (Israel’s Temple complex) one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”
And now we know it was the Roman legions that fulfilled the words of our Lord in 70 A.D..

Part 8 of 2027: Edited, 3/22.
Matthew 24:3, the disciples asked Jesus, “Tell us —- what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world (age?)”
Mark 13:32, “But of that day and hour knows no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.”
What we do know is, the Father has fixed a time for His Son’s return; it’s called, “the day of the Lord.”
The disciples’ question concerning Jesus return, has nothing to do with the rapture of the church. The question concerns only the time at the end of the 7 years of tribulation when the enemies of the Lord will be defeated at His coming; this followed by the 1000 Year reign. So, what the disciples wanted to know is, WHEN and WHERE will the Lord return?
Concerning “where,” compare the following two verses: the 1st in Acts takes place at the top of the Mt. of Olives, the time, sometime in May of 31 A.D.
Acts 1:9-10, “And when he (Jesus) had spoken these things, while they (the disciples) beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold two men stood by them in white apparel; they said, You men of Galilee, why stand you gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as you have seen him go into heaven.” Compare with,
Zechariah’s prophesy also takes place at the top of the Mt. of Olives:
Zechariah 14:4, “And his (Jesus) feet shall stand in that day (last days) upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east,”
Now we know the place, so we can move on to question 2: Can we know WHEN that day or hour is of Jesus return? No! Can we know the year and month? Possibly, if we look in the right places, and ask the right questions. Following is only one of the ways we may determine a possible month and year.
In Daniel 12:4, Daniel is told to shut up the words, and seal the book,” Until when? Until, “the time of the end:” see also, (Daniel 12:13, “till the end be”): many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.”
To and fro, and knowledge increasing go together, meaning, men will examine more closely, search out more diligently the Scriptures concerning these end time matters. Then will the knowledge of God’s purposes be made clearer. These verses do not refer to traveling at high speed, or from place to place, and are not speaking in terms of 24 Hour days, but in years.
When asked the question, When? Jesus never said to the disciples, that the Father would never reveal the time of his return. What Daniel wrote is, the knowledge of these matters will increase as we gain a deeper understanding of these verses concerning end time prophesy.
If, and when the Father reveals the time of His Son’s return through His Holy Spirit, it will not be revealed through some mysterious revelation from outside sources. Rather, it will be understood through the things that have already been written in Scripture; written, but not understood until these last days approach.
I believe this hidden truth has to be revealed before the tribulation begins; Why? How can the Father be glorified if the mystery of His Son’s return is never known? Prophesy has been rolled out for us over the centuries, one truth at a time. That’s the beauty and the power of God alone, His prophesies read like a book, chapter to chapter.
Daniel wrote 600 years before Jesus death. At that time, he was told to close the book. Seven hundred years later, about 96 A.D., John wrote the book of Revelation. John was told,
Revelation 22:10, “seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.” What time? “The time of the end.”
Daniel’s prophesy was for the distant future, and not to be understood until history revealed the prophesied kings and their empires of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream: the Medes, Persians, Greece, Rome etc.
John’s Revelation begins with the condition of the churches and the Gentile world until the time of Jesus 2nd coming. How do we know this? Because John’s Revelation shows the succession of the churches, the 7 seals, trumpets, and vials, ending with the judgement and the 1000 Year reign.
Since John, some 1924 years have passed, and the once hidden mysteries of God have been slowly rolled out for us over the centuries. And only now is the light of the Holy Spirit opening up the final chapters of both books.
I believe, the most important sign for unbelieving Jews and Gentiles will be the rapture of the church. Many who remain behind will know what has happened, and what is coming.
So, why didn’t the Father tell his Son when?
When Jesus was asked the question on the Mt. of Olives, Matthew 24:3, “what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” He still had to go to the cross, be buried and raised 3 days later. The Holy Spirit had not been sent; the 4 gospels had not been written; Paul was some 7 years away from his apostle-ship to the Gentiles.
Also, the Temple was still standing; it had to be destroyed first because of what Jesus said on the Mt. of Olives, Matthew 24:2, “see you not all these things: verily I say unto you, there shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.” This was fulfilled in 70 A.D.; 40 Years after Jesus spoke these words.
Also, Gentiles had not been brought into the fold; nothing had been written by Paul; 60 + years lay ahead before John wrote the book of Revelation. So, even if Jesus knew the day and hour, how and what could he have told his disciples?
“Well, it’s going to be 2000 years from now!” Hmmmm, the church would have lost all hope and disbanded, therefore, it had to remain hidden in the Father. In not revealing the time of His return, the blessed hope of Jesus return remained steadfast in every Christian’s heart over these many centuries.
The question, Daniel 8:13, “How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice (which is offered up), and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary (Holy Place) and the host (saints) to be trodden under foot? Compare with,
Daniel 12:11-12, “And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away (removed), and the abomination that makes desolate set up (put in place), there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.” Then he goes on to say,
Verse 12, “Blessed is he that waits and comes to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.”
The above two periods of time read as two separate events, the 1st, would be from its beginning to end, 1290 Years. And second, the 1335 would begin when the 1290 Years ends; both totaling, 2625 Years.
So, the key to this mystery is, “When did the first 1290 Years begin? Verse 11 gives us our first clue, “from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away (removed).”
The second question, when will the 1290 Years end? Answer: When “the abomination that makes desolate (is) set up (put in place).”
OK, we need to look for two historical events that include the Jews and Jerusalem, covering exactly 1290 Years. So, what we need to know is when was the daily sacrifice taken away? The daily sacrifice that had been commanded by the LORD and given to the Jews is found in, Exodus, Leviticus and Numbers. Seems simple enough!
What did the LORD require of the priests to fulfill the daily sacrifices, making these sacrifices acceptable to God?
Obviously, there needed to be a Temple, and in the Temple there had to be, standing before the Holy of Holies the brazen (bronze) altar with its eternal fire, “a fire that was never to be extinguished.”
Also, there needed to be a Holy of Holies having within its walls, the Ark of the Covenant with the Mercy seat. And only within the walls of this Holy place, and with these items present could the High Priest make his offering to the LORD, an offering for himself, and for the people. The same for the two daily sacrifices, the only difference is, the priest would not enter into the Holy of Holies, but the LORD would speak to him from inside, as the priest stood outside the curtain.
This daily sacrifice had to be perpetual, for it was to be a never-ending sacrifice. But the day came when the eternal flame was extinguished, and the sacrifices stopped. This chapter was then closed until Jesus returns and rules from His Temple on the Mt. of Olives.
Exodus 29:38-39, “Now this is that which thou shalt offer upon the (brazen) altar; two lambs of the first year day by day continually. The one lamb thou shalt offer in the morning; and the other lamb thou shalt offer at evening”
The first sacrifice was called the Morning sacrifice which took place at 9 AM. The second sacrifice was called the evening sacrifice, this took place at 3 PM.
The sacrifice was the same for both the morning and evening. For both sacrifices, a lamb without spot or blemish would be sacrificed with both bread and wine offered up. Numbers chapter 28 tells us that this sacrifice is to be a continual, perpetual offering never to be stopped. During both of these sacrifices certain prayers were also to be offered.
So, when did the daily sacrifice end as ordered by God? And, when was the eternal flame extinguished? History tells us both ended at the same time.
When king Nebuchadnezzar came to Jerusalem in 598 B.C., he dismantled the brazen altar and extinguishing the eternal flame. He took with him, the sacred vessels of sliver and gold, and the ark of the covenant, the two gold cherubs and the mercy seat from the temple, all overlaid with gold. Nebuchadnezzar brought back to Babylon all the bronze, silver and gold, placing it all in the temple of his god.
Jeremiah 27:21-22, “Thus said the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that remain in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah and of Jerusalem; they shall be carried to Babylon, and there shall they be until the day that I (the LORD) visit them saith the LORD; then will I bring them up, and restore them to this place.”
(See also, II Kings 25:13-16).
In Ezra 1, when the Jews were allowed to return to Jerusalem, items of bronze, silver and gold were returned, but there is no mention of the Ark of the Covenant or the Mercy Seat which were absolutely necessary for all sacrifices and offerings. And to this day, they have never been seen or heard from.
Without the mercy seat, God would not present himself to the priest. And when the Jews eventually resumed making their daily offerings, God would have had no part in them.
Isaiah 1:11, “To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? Saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of dead beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs or of he goats. Verse 13, “Bring no more vain oblations (gifts); incense (representing prayers) is an abomination unto me. Verse 15, “And when you spread forth your hands (pray), I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when you make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.”
From the day these holy items were removed from the Temple in 598 B.C., a day of darkness fell upon the Jewish people and the land. And for the following 2600 years as prophesied, the Jews Matthew 4:16, “sat in darkness;” have been “blinded in part,” and, their great city “Jerusalem trodden under foot by the Gentiles.”
Question, when will this day of darkness end? When the Light of the world, Jesus Christ returns and sits upon His throne in the Holy of Holies in Jerusalem as The King of the Jews.
Exodus 37: The mercy seat is a wonderful picture of Jesus’ work. It covered the Ark of the Covenant where the Ten Commandments and where Aaron’s rod was kept. Once every year, God said He would “appear in the cloud above the mercy seat that sat between the two cherubs.
In Exodus 25:22, the LORD told Moses, I will “commune with him (the High Priest) from above the mercy seat.”
Also, in Leviticus 16:3, God had instructed Moses to keep incense burning in the brazen altar, “that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is upon the testimony (ten commandments), that he (Aaron) die not.”
Concerning the Brazen altar, and God’s instructions to the Jews:
Leviticus 6:13, “The fire shell ever (forever) be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.” This is mentioned three times in this chapter, see verses 9-12-13.
Why was the everlasting fire so important? First, it was started by God: Leviticus 9:24, “And there came a fire out from before the LORD, and consumed upon the altar the burnt offering and the fat.”
The perpetual fire was to serve as a constant reminder of God’s presence. It was a gift from heaven.
So now we have a base on which to start our 1290 Year countdown. Now, let’s fill in the 2nd part of the question, when was, and what is “the abomination that makes desolate set up?”
From 598 B.C., (no month or day known) moving ahead 1290 Years we arrive at the year 692 A.D.
Question; what major event happened in 692 A.D.? This was the year the Dome of the Rock, “the abomination that makes desolate set up” atop God’s Holy Mountain.
Now, concerning the 2nd part of this prophesy, referencing the 1335 Years. It is written, “Blessed is he that waits and comes to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days (years)”
From 692 A.D., the year the Dome of the Rock was finished, if we move forward in time 1335 years, we arrive in the Year 2027 according to the Roman calendar. But this was a Jewish prophesy given Daniel and the Jewish New Year for 2027 begins on October 10.
