Final Countdown: Preface

Let me introduce myself: My name is Phillip A. LaSpino. Born and raised in Rochester N.Y. in August of 1937. Served in the Marines, after my discharge, and for the next 28 years, drove and trained race horses around this great country we call America.

As far as Christianity, I had never picked up a Bible until I was in my forties, yet for whatever reason, I have always believed in God, but never knew who He was. In the final years of my racing career, I began to have this empty feeling, something was missing from my life. One day in 1983, I received a phone call, and because of this one call, I went out and purchased a Bible, and began to study. Right from the git-go, several questions burned in my mind;

“Who is Jesus Christ? I needed not only to read it, but to understand what it was I was reading.

After one full year of examining many commentaries, and putting forth a thorough examination on the subject, I had my answer. Jesus Christ was the Jewish Messiah, the Son of the living God, the Savior of the World, the Creator of heaven and earth. Since his birth he is called Jesus, but before his birth He was called by the Jews, Yahweh; in our English, Jehovah.

My next question was, “Who or what is the Holy Spirit?” Another year of dedicated study brought me to the threshold of where I stand today in my relationship with the LORD. Now I do understood fully who Jesus Christ is, and who the Holy Spirit is.

With this information in hand, my walk through the many revealed truths and remaining mysteries of the Bible began; and what a walk it has been!
