Whom Do You Follow?

Ephesians 1:22, speaks of the Father, who “Hath put all things under His (Jesus) feet, and gave Him to be the head (the King and ruler) over all things to the church.”

The church is the body, and Jesus is the head. This not only implies that Jesus has dominion, but also of the churches’ unity in Him.

In today’s church setting, the word unity seems to be an oxymoron. Churches claim to have the same head, yet they disagree on practically every matter concerning Biblical doctrine.

Questions:

1. Why are churches so divided in their teaching? They seem to have many opinions, yet all claim Christ as their head. Have you ever seen an arm or leg separated from its body and live?

2. Why has Biblical interpretation become so confusing and diverse?

John speaks of false teachers, and antichrists. Scripture speaks of Satan coming as an angel of light (a messenger of the truth). The body is being led away by false teachers, no longer taught by the Holy Spirit. Those who remain true, are under the influence of the Holy Spirit.

These moving in the wrong direction, are going the way of this world, being influenced by their denominations, their pastors, T.V., books, etc. everything but the word. People attend churches, seminars, hoping for signs or miracles from above; and soon hypnotized by dynamic teachers, coaxed by family members, misdirected by friends, putting great emphasis on their emotions, and distracted by idol conversations, entertainment, or recreations.

These things have become eminent in their lives, more so than the God who created and established them? Because Jesus is no longer their Head, God’s judgments will fall, and destruction will follow.

We must wake up, acting as the people of Berea. Acts 17:20. They were an open minded people, those who were willing to study the teachings of Paul in the light of Scriptures.

Yet, when the Jews from Thessalonica arrived, even this desire to study the scriptures was disrupted, turning the Bereans’ against the gospel of Christ. Yet a few true believers remained; a few who were not let away, searching the Scriptures daily.
