It’s never too late to Learn:
Everyone can use more knowledge. If a person has a college, high school or grammar school education; there may come a time when they will consider the renewal of some new study. Many realize that a well-directed study produces results far more valuable than the cost and time spent in pursuing things that will later be discarded.
I’m sure everyone has heard the expressions “Your too old to learn,” or “you cannot teach an old dog new tricks.” But, some educators believe that adults can learn more easily than some teens. As a rule adults between the age of 25 and 50 will learn faster than boys and girls between 15 to 20, and as readily as those of 20 to 25.
An adult usually benefits more from education than a child, for several reasons. Instead of taking a ready-made group of school room courses, an adult will choose wisely what subject(s) he/she wishes to study. These adults are in a position to plan for a special objective. Also, they have life experiences; therefore they know better what may work and what may not.
Age, however, is but a minor issue concerning study. Three essentials for gaining more knowledge are:
1. Capacity. What is the ability of individual’s mind, to receive and understand new ideas, knowledge, and/or tasks?
2. Interest. What things motivate a person? What types of situations, causes, problems, and injustices move someone to action?
3. Energy. What is your capacity for acting, operating, and producing an effect? Also in what areas is a person self-motivated?
No matter what you feel about yourself, or what you’ve been told by others: the fact is, all people have some capacity, and energy to learn something new, to accomplish goals, and to become a positive influence in the lives of others!
Progress in all branches of education is greater now than it has ever been. Those who keep pace with world events, and the world’s progress, will find and gain new insights on sciences, inventions, and discoveries.
If anyone desires to know the truth about political, social, historical, and religious events in various nations of the world, and is not content to read merely the brief news accounts, then he/she will study the history and background of people, countries, and religions more thoroughly.
One does this in order to learn the more intimate details with the hope of obtaining more vital knowledge. Success with happiness comes about by constantly seeking more information about new things; this produces steady growth.
Regardless of whether a person is 10, or 70, it is absolutely necessary for mental and spiritual growth to continue to study. No person is too old to learn.
Some of the world’s mental and religious giants did not meet with any pronounced success until well into middle age. They did study however, and remained focused on the thing they started out to do. Good books, and computer programs, are available everywhere. If you cannot afford them, go to the library. There is no excuse to remain uninformed or uneducated.
All other things being equal, success with happiness is usually the reward for the person who is sure of the facts. Those who seek after knowledge successfully know where to go in order to obtain it.
No one person can contain all knowledge in the head; but every person can use the great storehouse of knowledge that has been accumulated in books, and other resources.
If one desires to know more about God, His love, His salvation plan and the glory that awaits, begin an exercise program of the spiritual mind and body. Study the history of religion, the great men of God, the wonderful events, and miracles, from Genesis to Revelation. What does God desire of a person? Get curious learn about God and from God.
Read about the saints of the Christian faith; also about those who chose to war against basic fundamental religious teachings. Are these new religious teachings really new? How and when did the teachings of the modern day cults begin, and with whom?
Today’s cults are not new, but go back thousands of years to men like Origen and Arian. Their false teachings became the foundation stones for men like Taze Russell, the founder of the Jehovah Witnesses; Joseph Smith, first leader of the Mormons.
Mr. Smith took the idea of many wives to a new level. Mary Baker Eddy established the Christian Science movement, which has become popular in Hollywood. Plato’s teaching established the base for Gnostics, and the list is long.
This kind of knowledge can be used for both offence and defense. It will help strengthen one’s faith, and help to grow in Christ Jesus.
